The EHS Manager will lead environmental, health, and safety programs for our large-scale manufacturing facility of approximately 1,500 employees in West Union, SC. This role focuses on collaborating with teams to develop and implement strategies that ensure compliance, encourage a proactive safety culture, and advance sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate is a relationship-oriented leader who can engage and inspire at all levels, partner on continuous improvement, and align EHS objectives with corporate goals in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing EHS programs for large-scale operations.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk management, and industrial hygiene.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in EHS management systems and reporting tools.
  • OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM.
  • Experience maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership teams to develop and implement the site’s EHS strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Serve as the primary EHS resource for the facility, building strong partnerships to prioritize safety and sustainability.
  • Foster and nurture a culture of accountability, agility, and innovation in EHS practices.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and state/local regulations.
  • Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications and manage audits.
  • Work closely with teams to conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and develop thoughtful solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Encourage and inspire a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and leadership involvement.
  • Design and deliver EHS training programs for all levels of staff.
  • Guide and support incident investigations and root cause analysis; implement preventive measures collaboratively.
  • Oversee environmental compliance programs including air, water, waste, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage reporting for environmental permits and regulatory submissions.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and crisis management protocols.
  • Coordinate drills and ensure readiness for potential incidents.
  • Track and report EHS performance metrics to site leadership and corporate.
  • Recognize opportunities and partner with teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
