About The Position

At Ascend Advanced Therapies, safety is central to everything we do. We're seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) professional to help lead and maintain safety, health, and environmental programs that keep our people, facilities, and operations safe and compliant. This position may be filled at the EHS Specialist III or Senior EHS Specialist level depending on the candidate's experience and demonstrated expertise. A Day in the Life As a key member of our site operations team, you'll play a hands-on role ensuring our labs and production areas meet the highest safety and compliance standards. You'll conduct inspections, coordinate training, manage environmental programs, and help foster a culture of accountability and care. The Environmental Health & Safety role provides greater autonomy to lead program development, regulatory inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site. This position is onsite in Alachua, FL

Responsibilities

  • Participate in or lead routine site-specific safety committee meetings.
  • Conduct environmental, health, and safety inspections of laboratories, production areas, and facilities.
  • Inspect and document work areas to verify fire protection systems, safety equipment, first aid supplies, and environmental compliance.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the floor to provide technical guidance to managers and employees.
  • Maintain safety equipment and consumables (first aid kits, eyewash stations, safety signage, etc.).
  • Communicate environmental health and safety matters effectively across departments.
  • Participate in or lead accident/incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Develop, deliver, and track safety and compliance training sessions.
  • Manage or support environmental and sustainability programs, including liquid waste processing and disposal.
  • Maintain the site's chemical inventory, including authoring annual environmental reports.
  • Maintain regulatory paperwork, coordinate with agencies for required permits, and support audits and inspections.
  • Track and maintain records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain the on-site security camera and badge access system.
  • Participate in the 24/7 department on-call rotation.
  • Support day-to-day EHS operations as needed and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
