Join the Chromalloy team as our Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Director, serving as the organization’s primary technical subject matter expert in occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, incident investigation, and risk management. The EH&S Director reports directly to the Vice President of EH&S, partnering with the Site team members in identifying key EH&S opportunities and implementing programs and plans across Chromalloy sites. In this role, you will be crucial in implementing Chromalloy’s EH&S strategy and shaping a culture of environmental, health and safety excellence throughout our organization. You will coach site leaders and EH&S team members, develop and implement common policies, procedures, and programs, assess and report on EH&S performance, and ensure the sustainment and sharing of corrective actions and best practices across the company. This is a hybrid role, with the requirement either to be co-located at a Chromalloy facility and ability to travel up to 50% of the year or to be near a major airport and ability to travel up to 75% of the year. Chromalloy’s primary manufacturing and repair facilities are in Tampa, FL, Orangeburg, NY, Windsor, CT, Newnan, GA, San Diego, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Carson City, NV, and San Antonio, TX. Additional locations are present within Florida, Georgia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, environmental science, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as CSP, CIH, CE, CHMM, or ISO 14001/45001 lead auditor are a plus.
  • 10 years of demonstrated experience and expertise in implementing and maintaining EHS management systems.
  • Experience leading EH&S programs and teams across multiple sites, including completing performance management and reviews, implementing strategic initiatives, auditing programs, and managing change.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable EH&S legal and regulatory requirements, and ability to coach and train others in EH&S requirements.
  • Familiarity with EH&S software systems and proficiency in leveraging technology for compliance tracking, reporting, and data analysis/visualization.
  • Familiarity with environmental sustainability metrics and reporting, and environmental due diligence and remediation project reviews.
  • Must be co-located at a Chromalloy facility, with the ability to travel up to 50% of time, or located near a major airport with ability to travel up to 75% of time.
  • Due to government regulation only US persons (U.S. citizen, U.S. naturalized citizen, U.S. permanent resident, holder of U.S. approved political asylee or refugee status) may be considered for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the leader, subject matter expert, and program owner for key environmental, health and safety requirements, inclusive of regulatory requirements, industry standards, building codes, and best practices.
  • Advise, implement and monitor progress and performance of strategic EH&S initiatives and common programs.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of our EH&S management system, including policies, procedures, and training.
  • Work with the sites to develop annual EH&S improvement plans, objectives and targets, inclusive of safety, compliance, and sustainability.
  • Support monthly reporting of EH&S performance and key activities related to strategic initiatives and recovery plans.
  • Assess and audit sites in the implementation of regulatory compliance and company requirements, as well as overall risk assessment and reduction programs.
  • Monitor EH&S data to identify trends or emerging risks and lead cross-functional teams on improvement and mitigation projects. This may include working with site leaders, operations, engineering, facilities, human resources, quality, IT, legal, and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate, review and coach teams in the root cause corrective action investigations of injuries, compliance deviations, and high-risk near misses.
  • Support the professional development and technical training of EH&S team members at the sites.
  • Aid sites in the review of new programs, facility changes, and capital expenditures to ensure EH&S requirements are identified and implemented.
  • Support sites and ensure on time development and submittal of critical regulatory documents, such as permit applications, annual reports, or responses to compliance deviations.
  • Work with sites and worker’s compensation in strengthening case management and return to work programs.
  • Work with risk management to support the identification and limitation of loss prevention and physical security issues as they relate to EH&S.
  • Support the management and implementation of legacy environmental remediation projects and environmental sustainability projects and reporting.
  • Serve as a technical expert and champion the use and implementation of our corporate EH&S software system (VelocityEHS).
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and industry best practices for impacts to Chromalloy operations and EH&S management system.
