Capital Programs and Facilities Management (CPFM) is committed to planning, developing, and maintaining a safe, sustainable, and high-quality learning and working environment for the campus community. Facilities Management provides oversight of university resources and assets and is responsible for the development of the University's facilities, including land use planning, capital improvement, project development, construction, as well as facilities operations and maintenance, including custodial services, landscape services, building trade services, mechanical and electrical, and recycling services. We seek an exceptional individual to join our Environmental Health and Safety team as the Environmental Health Officer (Environmental Health and Safety Professional III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, and integrity. Working independently under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or designee, the Environmental Health Officer is the Environmental Health Officer and licensed Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) of record for the Campus. Performs advanced work by exercising significant authority over the planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining the various environmental health/public health and safety programs necessary to ensure a safe and healthy environment for faculty, staff, students, and the general public. The Environmental Health Officer will serve as a subject matter expert and conduct routine inspections, follow-up inspections, complaint/incident investigations, and coordinate environmental health plan review for food and pool safety to ensure compliance with state laws and ensure the public's health and safety. The position provides direct support and consultation for industrial hygiene evaluations on campus, including identifying areas to evaluate and following up on complaints and incidents. Assist with routine fire code and fire prevention inspections, environmental sampling, medical monitoring, follow-up, and provide input and assistance with the Campus safety training program. The Environmental Health Officer will utilize federal, state, and local regulations to determine environmental health, occupational safety and health, and industrial hygiene compliance. Interact as needed with state and federal regulatory personnel to maintain compliance with existing and new laws. Work requires regular participation in planning and development activities. Independent determination of methods to meet programmatic or administrative goals as required. Provides consultation and expert advice to the campus community. Interact regularly with students and student organizations to provide professional guidance and mentoring. Assist with other programs within the Environmental Health and Safety Department as needed. Other duties as assigned.
