Job Summary Responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, visitors, and the environment by preventing accidents, promoting a safe work environment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of local, state, and national safety regulations and standards is essential.
  • This includes knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act and relevant industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and develop effective safety strategies.
  • Keen eye for detail to identify potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership qualities to effectively educate and motivate employees to adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and work in diverse environments.
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Construction Safety, or related field; Bachelor's degree highly preferred
  • CSP, CHST, OSHA 30 Hour preferred
  • Safety-Related Experience 2-3 years required; experience working in a healthcare environment highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and update safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and non-compliance with safety standards.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near-misses, and safety-related incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 99 Healthcare Facilities Code, and The Massachusetts State Building Code.
  • Perform pre-construction risk assessments, along with a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and fire safety plans.
  • Routinely liaise with local authorities having jurisdiction for building inspections and permitting related to construction, fire, and life safety.
