We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for deployment of the Responsible Care® culture across Performance Materials’ (PMN) thirteen sites North America to support BASF’s “Zero Incident Mindset”, “Zero Loss of Containment Mindset” and overall “Exposure Reduction Process.” These beliefs are aligned and paramount to our goal to “Foster Excellence in Safety” The EHS Manager directly supervises a diverse team of EHS professionals to ensuring EHS compliance with corporate and local requirements, drives the Exposure Reduction Process across all N-PMN Sites to reduce or eliminate at risk behaviors and conditions in our working environments, and leverages digitalization and LEAN tools to drive continuous improvement in occupational health and safety performance across N-PMN. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Ten (10)+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience managing EHS or other professionals and/or multidisciplinary teams preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma experience is preferred to drive continuous improvement in occupational health and safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • Leveraging your supervisory and leadership experience to provide disciplinary responsibility for the Wyandotte Site OSIH team, mentoring staff and holding team members accountable to performance and conduct expectations.
  • Driving the Exposure Reduction Process across all N-PMN sites to identify, prioritize, and eliminate at-risk behaviors and conditions, and to implement sustainable corrective actions that measurably improve safety performance.
  • Owning the Wyandotte Site Contractor Safety Program by developing contractor selection and oversight processes, delivering contractor safety requirements and training, and ensuring contractor performance meets BASF standards.
  • Leveraging digitalization and best practice sharing to drive continuous improvement in occupational health and safety performance across N-PMN.
  • Providing OSIH support for the Wyandotte Site Services Team.
  • Supporting professional development for EHS Professionals across N-PMN sites, coaching staff, and fostering development and growth within the EHS community.
  • Advising the EHS&S Director as an active member of the N‑PMN/OH Leadership Team, offering tactical and strategic guidance on site and regional EHS priorities and initiatives.
  • Ensuring EHS compliance with corporate and local requirements.
  • Driving Emergency Preparedness at the Wyandotte Site and across N-PMN
  • Acting as the primary liaison between N-PMN/O and GB OSIH expert services.
  • Driving Responsible Care® (RC) audit readiness across all N‑PMN sites by coordinating audits, remediation plans, and continuous readiness activities to ensure successful audit outcomes.
  • Serving as the RCMS EHS Lead for N-PMN, managing the RCMS program elements, tracking performance, and ensuring the Responsible Care Management System is effectively deployed and sustained across the region.
