About The Position

Primary Duties: Proactively develop and implement plant-wide health and safety programs. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local agencies. Fulfill the duties of the facility's Management Representative by developing/implementing/maintaining the EHS Management Systems – Safety Improvement Plan (SIP) and the ISO14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) while assuring compliance with Federal, State and Local governing agencies. Maintain and adhere to all environmental permits: air, waste, storm water, wastewater, etc. Complete all environmental state and federal reports when required: ERS, Tier II, wastewater, SARA Title III (Form R), biennial hazardous waste. Manage chemical waste program and adhere to including and not limited to EPA/DOT, state, and local requirements. Analyze data to focus on implementing effective actions. Maintain necessary reports for location and corporate as required. Provide the plant and corporate with the required monthly statistical EHS reports. Communicate Safety and Environmental performance and Objectives to Regional and Global Management and interested parties. F acilitate employee involvement and engagement with environmental, health, safety and ergonomic issues. Coordinate and conduct EHS related training of both salary and hourly employees. Coordinate with the rest of the PNA EHS team to implement environmental, health, and safety best management practices and group-wide initiatives and programs. Participate with New Model Introduction (NMI) teams and new/modified equipment reviews. Review proposed occupational safety policies, guidelines and standards to determine their consistency with accepted engineering principles and practices and recommend technical changes as needed. Apply knowledge of psychological and physiological factors to assist in the design of safety features and controls, maintain effective knowledge of current and developing advanced manufacturing techniques and ergonomic controls. Effectively supervise Occupational Health Nurse. Facilitate plant first aid response team and other emergency response teams, wellness programs, and other improvement activities. Administer a comprehensive industrial hygiene program to monitor employee exposures and recommend necessary corrective action. Manage all facets of worker’s compensation and interface with our designated third-party administrator. Active member of the plant leadership team to assure annual budgets are achieved, plant performance is continually improved, and customer expectations are achieved. Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles Other duties as assigned by manager Scope/Dimensions: Management oversight of the EHS program for a single site manufacturing and delivery facility. Recommend, review, and control budgets and expenses and make capital expenditure recommendations. Frequent interaction with customer and vendor representatives, regulatory representatives, senior management, and peers/subordinates at this site and other company locations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preference in Safety Management and/or Environmental) or a combination of education and experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in manufacturing.
  • Prior experience in Tier 1 Automotive Supplier.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in related leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Staff, Colleagues and Customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information, train others, and respond to questions from groups and individuals.
  • Ability to define problems; collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrated skills to continually improve the process, product and skills of the organization
  • Leverages strong PC competencies—including Microsoft Office and data analysis—to improve accuracy, efficiency, and decision‑making.

  • Current certification or ability to obtain certification: Industrial Stormwater Operator; Hazardous Waste Management; OSHA 30 Hour; ISO14001 Lead Auditor; Adult First Aid and CPR

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional or OSHA Certified trainer
  • Prior auditing experience, preferred in ISO140001
  • Prior experience with Worker’s Compensation.
