About The Position

Summary: The Environmental Affairs Intern is responsible for assisting with projects and tasks across the State of California, within the assigned Environmental department. The position will provide support of projects, regulatory requirements, and Company goals, and may work on small projects, as well as large projects under the guidance of a manager within the Environmental Department. INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS: One‑year commitment from June 1, 2026, through May 28, 2027 Summer - full time (32-40 hours per week) Fall/Spring/Winter - based on school schedule 100% on-site, no remote option Eligibility for employment in the US is required without sponsorship (ex. OPT, F1, etc.)

Requirements

  • Enrolled in university degree program in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field, and/or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Eligibility for employment in the US is required without sponsorship (ex. OPT, F1, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental administrative support for Environmental Affairs department
  • Provides environmental database management, extracts data and prepares reports summarizing data
  • Prepares permit reporting, permit applications and compliance plans
  • Safety culture; use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate
  • Develops and edits training presentations and procedures in environmental compliance, health, and emergency response
  • Participates in and supports the Company’s Continuous Improvement program and projects
  • Performs other similar duties as assigned
  • Attends meetings and training as directed by California Water Service
  • Communicates with Cal Water employees from other groups, departments, and districts to collect data, complete requests, and coordinate as necessary
  • Properly documents work, procedures, maintain records, validates data in information systems and paper files
  • Presents project findings to senior leadership prior to the end of an assignment
  • General tasks including administrative tasks, status reporting, attending group meetings, and data gathering and processing
