About The Position

The Environmental Engineer is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance at our secondary lead recycling facility in Tampa. Responsibilities involve engaging a wide range of stakeholders including operations teams and regulators. Must be able to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams at all levels. This role will have the ability to act independently with moderate direct supervision. This position reports to the site Environmental Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited College or University
  • A minimum of two years of previous work experience in an environmental role in manufacturing or consulting
  • Previous work experience with facilitating regulators and on-site contractors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to champion change, promote a positive team atmosphere, and sustain a continuous improvement culture
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, ability to work well under pressure, sense of urgency, and attention to detail
  • Willingness and ability to wear a full-face respirator mask directly against skin, work in a hot/high temperature production facility, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in designated areas with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willingness and ability to comply with safety protocols and company-provided decontamination measures
  • The work that the person in this position completes is primarily on site at our Tampa facility with minimal opportunity for remote work.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with air permitting/Title V preferred, but NOT required

Responsibilities

  • Using our Intelex software system, owns the environmental incident reporting and investigation system
  • Coordinates environmental testing, audits, inspections, and recordkeeping
  • Remains current on the state of the art in environmental control technologies
  • Performs data analysis to drive insights into environmental performance opportunities
  • Prepares regulatory compliance reports including emissions inventory, periodic air monitoring reports, Greenhouse Gas, and periodic hazardous waste reporting
  • Reviews and summarizes technical reports, identifying key takeaways and action items
  • Communicates and engages with regulators
  • Works with consultants to monitor relevant regulatory changes
  • Works with the training department to create and update training documentation
  • Responds promptly and effectively to the needs of the business
