About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking an entry level Environmental Engineer for employment within our Environmental Remediation Practices group in our Novi, Michigan office to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative team environment. This position is expected to begin in February 2026. Tasks will include: Conducting environmental field work, including collecting soil, groundwater, and remediation system data, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging and oversight of subcontractors. Operations and maintenance of surface water treatment system. Produce accurate and complete documentation of operation, inspections and compliance Field document preparation, field data collection, processing and interpretation. Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation. Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance Travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental/Civil/Geological/Chemical Engineering.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • HAZWOPER 40-Hour Training and 8-Hour Refresher, if applicable.
  • Prior experience in environmental field data collection including drilling, soil logging, well installation and soil, groundwater, vapor sample collection, and/or remediation system operations, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Coursework or experience providing knowledge relevant to waste management, environmental site assessments, environmental site investigation and characterization, and environmental remediation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling practices.
