Here, you will make an impact by: Leading, developing, and implementing new and existing environmental programs/practices aimed to mitigate hazards, ensure compliance, and improve plant environmental processes within the Knoxville site. Interpreting, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining the regulatory compliance rhythm to assure completion of reporting and recording for applicable Federal, State and Local Environmental Permits, regulations, programs, and 3M EHS standards. Innovating boldly through the analysis of environmental data, self-assessments, reports, trends, and communicating the correction of gaps and identification of continuous improvement opportunities to operational leadership. Provide EHS support in the design and installation of new or modified equipment through Management of Change. Involvement in various site wide EHS initiatives and projects designed to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the site’s EHS programs. Developing a broad knowledge and understanding of external environmental activities and technologies, and fostering relationships with external stakeholders including Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Region 7 Environmental Protection Agency, and local emergency planning commissions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Two (2) years of combined experience with environmental compliance and/or environmental reporting in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
  • Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
  • U.S. Export Control laws and U.S. Government Department of Defense contracts and sub-contracts impose certain restrictions on companies and their ability to share export-controlled and other technology and services with certain "non-U.S. persons" (persons who are not U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., refugees, "Temporary Residents" (granted Amnesty or Special Agricultural Worker provisions), or persons granted asylum. Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in an EHS role in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in environmental program administration including Title V, NESHAP, NSPS, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), incident investigation, emergency response and risk management.
  • Experience interacting with Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency with various corporate reporting/compliance and other software tools.
  • Certified in QEP or CHMM from an accredited organization.
  • Self-directed, detail oriented, good interpersonal, communication, prioritization and organizational skills.
