About The Position

JOB PURPOSE: To perform a variety of operational functions that constitute the production, inspection, distribution and disposal considerations for various waste products and their waste streams. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform assignments in accordance with established safety policies and procedures. Adheres to the Quality Policy, including all items assigned to this position in accordance with ISO policies, procedures, and work instructions. Comply with work rules and standards set forth in the Employee Handbook. Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in their immediate work areas or work site. Displays appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group settings which provides a positive work environment with co-workers. Refers to procedural instructions appropriate for each job, function or assignment. Perform any specified environmental checks designated for each job, function or assignment. Ensures that all work assigned to the position is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions and requirements. Demonstrates ability to meet environmental compliance standards on specific assignments within a reasonable time, depending on the degree of difficulty of their job functions. SPECFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Apply theory and principles of environmental engineering to modify, test, and operate equipment and devices used in the prevention, control, and ensure remediation of environmental pollution, including waste treatment and site remediation. Works both with lab service providers and performing various testing in the field. Inspects and maintains equipment, controls and manages hazardous waste, collects samples, manage waste operations, assists with regulatory compliance and other duties as needed. Produce environmental assessment reports, tabulating data and preparing charts, graphs and sketches. Performs weekly site inspection and reports noncompliance for immediate correction. Regularly (daily) monitoring of waste streams throughout property performing checks to ensure compliance and reporting to correct immediately. (i.e. employees throwing scrap metal in trash compactor). Monitoring and reporting conditions could pose a risk to environmental compliance or cause safety concerns for employees and reports to appropriate management for correction (i.e. maintenance, not clearing oil catch pans and running into walkways). Managing reclaims for all waste streams and work with third party contract groups for proper removal, recycling and/or disposal. Perform monthly inspections as indicated in permitting, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SP3), Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (TPDES) or City Discharge Permitting and requirements. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (SAFETY) Accomplishes tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by the immediate manager for successful completion of the mission of Norris Cylinder EHS Department. Promote a Safe Workplace by ensuring compliance with rules, issuing stop work and corrective action, involvement in work order creation for identified hazards. Assist in onboarding of new employees, this will include training of safety module. Utilization of the Benchmark Gensuite application, requires use of I-Pad which will be provided. Support and utilize management systems to conduct inspections and provide reporting. Scrape trough on top of building (400 ft) (Longview) Skim oil off press clarifiers Drain solids from the bottom of clarifiers Process PRESS waste oil through hydro filtering system when needed Monitor and clean out of drainage systems that flow off property Skim oil and drop solids out of wastewater treatment system Change out filtering socks on systems (if equipped) Drain or pump out water from containment berms and record. Weekly environmental report completion and submission Fill propane when needed Load cardboard bundles into roll-off (no source defined), if needed. Rebuild Yamada Pumps around the reclaim area Collect 55-gallon waste drums, totes, bins, or other designated collection devices at designated locations Maintain waste collection area with accurate inventory.

Requirements

  • Must possess an education or experience level that permits the employee to effectively communicate and perform duties, assignments and responsibilities of the job.
  • Handling basic issues and problems indirectly but will refer more complex opportunities to the direct supervisor.
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and/or 2-4 years of experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents relating to the job, function or assignment.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical equations related to environmental management.
  • Ability to make decisions when identifying in-process problems.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of job assignments.
  • Accomplishment of assigned tasks.
