Key statistics: 950+ Consultants 640+ Ph.D.s 90+ Disciplines 30+ Offices globally Our Opportunity We are currently seeking Engineering Candidates with Expertise in Hydraulics and Hydrology for our Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice in Pasadena, CA . Other locations may also be considered. In this role you will work as part of a team to provide high-level scientific support for projects centering on the evaluation of flooding, geomorphology, water resources and water quality, contaminant transport and fate, and evaluation of the impacts of climate change. The ideal candidate should be willing to expand their area of expertise into emerging environmental issues, including climate change impacts on water supply and environmental quality, evolving policy related to water quality and waste management, and contaminants of emerging concern.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences, Limnology, Water Resources, or similar discipline
  • Registered Professional Engineer; (Candidates with FE and ability to soon obtain a PE license will also be considered)
  • Experience with common surface water modeling and GIS tools is desired (1-D and 2-D HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, FLO-2D, computational fluid dynamics models such as Delft-3D, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team, and manage time effectively
  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Strong commitment to personal and professional development
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modeling chemical fate and transport is a plus
  • Expertise in large dataset visualization

Responsibilities

  • Examining surface water hydrology, flooding, and geomorphology
  • Analyzing the impacts of climate change on hydrology (floods, droughts, snowpack, and water supply impacts)
  • Synthesizing technical information and applying critical thinking to prepare and review reports and technical presentations
  • Working cooperatively on projects with other members of the Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice and interdisciplinary groups from other Exponent practices as appropriate
