About The Position

By joining the Division for Air Quality, Field Operations Branch, Bowling Green Section as an Environmental Control Supervisor in Warren County, you will have the opportunity to: Plan, Assign, Coordinate, and Supervise employees in the interpretation and enforcement of environmental laws and regulations. Meet with operators, landowners, contractors, geologists, engineers, and private citizens. Conduct and coordinate training sessions and seminars for institutional heads on environmental issues. Train new employees in the implementation of environmental programs. Serve as an expert witness. Respond to spills or other environmental emergencies. Corresponds with local, state, and federal government officials on environmental matters.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural or physical science
  • Five years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, mining reclamation, mining inspection or regulation of mining activities, energy conservation, energy development, energy management, blasting activities, or oil and gas well inspection
  • Graduate study in a natural, biological, or physical science will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Experience in natural resources, environmental control, mineral extraction, mining reclamation, mining or mining inspection or experience dealing with the regulation of mining activities (such as mine permit preparation and review or sediment pond and hollow fill design), energy conservation, energy development, energy management, blasting activities, or oil and gas well inspection will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis

Responsibilities

  • Plan, Assign, Coordinate, and Supervise employees in the interpretation and enforcement of environmental laws and regulations
  • Meet with operators, landowners, contractors, geologists, engineers, and private citizens

  • Conduct investigations and compliance evaluations at all types of industry
  • Train agency staff
  • Oversee environmental compliance issues
  • Review inspection reports
  • Respond to citizen complaints
