Verdantas is a national consulting group seeking a talented Environmental Compliance Specialist II to join our team and support the Southeast EHS Practice. This position is remote, with the office located in Anderson, SC. At Verdantas, our regulatory team guides clients through the complexities of environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance, from audits and permitting to program development and improvement. We specialize in transforming brownfields, managing environmental systems, and navigating federal, state, and local regulations. Our work spans multi-media consulting, stormwater control, SWPPP, sustainability, and air emissions permitting for industrial, manufacturing, institutional, and municipal clients. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological science, chemistry, geological science, environmental sciences, or engineering, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance and permitting with emphasis on air permitting and compliance
  • Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations (Air, Stormwater, Wastewater, EPCRA, RCRA, etc.)
  • Experience developing environmental written programs (e.g., SPCC, SWPPP, etc.)
  • Proficient with environmental reporting (e.g., Tier II, SARA 313, TSCA, NESHAP, air source registration/air emission statements, stormwater discharge, hazardous waste, etc.)
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and environmental reporting software
  • Must have a personal vehicle for independent transportation to work sites when required

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and analytical support to clients in developing documentation & strategies to ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations
  • Assist in the development of client permit applications, compliance reports, and contingency plans
  • Attend site visits to observe and evaluate client activities and procedures
  • Conduct training sessions for clients to instruct in environmental regulations, systems and procedures.
  • Interact directly with regulatory agencies
  • Develop and review technical reports for delivery to clients and maintain compliance with exemplary quality of deliverables.
  • Contribute to business development activities as well as client development and proposal writing
  • Assist with evaluating environmental regulatory compliance of facilities and conduct gap analysis
  • Interpret and apply environmental regulations for multiple industry types
  • Oversee on-site support for client operations in industrial settings, including monitoring programs associated with environmental regulatory compliance, and other applicable site-specific compliance
  • Develop, implement, promote, and improve environmental programs and plans for clients
  • Develop and review local, state, and federal environmental client reporting requirements
  • The ability to work well both independently and within a diverse team is essential.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and think outside the box
  • Travel up to 15% to client sites throughout the Southeast with some overnight travel
