About The Position

We are Doe Run – a natural resource company sustainably managing the minerals in our care. The Doe Run Company is seeking a Environmental Compliance Manager to support the company as a leader & subject matter expert in environmental compliance, reporting & permitting by managing a team of technical & environmental professionals; managing & overseeing projects inclusive of change management & communication; developing & implementing plans, policies & procedures; completing reports & maintaining records; negotiating permits; staying abreast of applicable & proposed regulations; determine business impact of regulations & track compliance with environmental requirements through audits & data monitoring. This position is based out of our Central Office in Viburnum, MO. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, The Doe Run Company is a privately held natural resources company and one of the largest lead producers in the Western Hemisphere. Dedicated to environmentally responsible mineral and metal production, Doe Run has facilities in Missouri, Washington, and Arizona and operates one of the world's largest, single-site lead recycling facilities, located in Boss, MO.  Using innovative mining techniques, Doe Run skillfully taps one of the largest lead deposits in the world. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Applied Science or related field; or combination of education & experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience (preferably within a manufacturing environment & shows successful results within environmental compliance & permitting, including air, water, hazardous waste, etc.).
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated experience supervising, motivating, leading & holding teams accountable.
  • Valid, current driver's license.
  • Strong ability to understand & communicate regulations with little to no oversight.
  • Experience in effectively applying regulations to processes & people company-wide.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills using Word, Excel, etc.
  • Strong project management skills & exposure to the full project life cycle & hands-on experience managing complex projects.
  • Confident & effective communication skills coupled with the ability to make difficult business decisions & influence other business leaders.
  • Ability to recognize issues & risks & proactively provide solutions & make recommendations.
  • Proven experience in effectively managing change.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with compliance reporting & proficiency using People Management & Financial systems, including exposure to PeopleSoft, UltimatePro, or Adaptive systems, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure personnel have the tools & knowledge necessary to comply with regulations; responsible for business decisions associated with plant environmental compliance.
  • Communicate environmental requirements; develop & implement plans, procedures, policies that ensure compliance; complete permit & regulation requirements; coordinate & participate in environmental audits & inspections.
  • Environmental permitting: make determinations on the requirements for permits on projects; filing & negotiation of water, air & hazardous waste permits & permit modifications with Missouri DNR.
  • Responsible for full life cycle project management & overall resource management; oversight of internal & external resources to complete projects & department responsibilities.
  • Environmental Reporting; preparation & oversight of internal/external reports required by permit & rule or to support environmental compliance.
  • Division leader: engage & influence business decision as an active Leadership Team Member.
  • Held accountable for talent development & succession planning for the environmental compliance team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
