Job Overview: Perform post-event clean up of debris left over from nighttime fireworks shows near or over waterways around Mission Bay (including Fiesta Island). This will include collection, removal, and disposal of pyrotechnic debris. Working in a team environment, you will model a positive attitude, a high level of energy and an unyielding commitment to quality.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving guidelines (preferred)
• Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
• Regular use of hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed.
• Stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing)
• Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors and cold/heat temperature extremes
• Perform cleaning duties, including use of cleaning chemicals
• Must be flexible in work locations as placement will depend on business needs and career development opportunities
• Seasonal position starting Memorial Day and ending around Labor Day
• Available to work varying shifts or hours based on park hours, i.e. be able to work opening and closing shifts, nights, weekends, and Holidays during the summer
• Flexibility required to work varying shifts Early Morning and Evening Shifts. 4 hour shifts. Shifts dependent on Fireworks schedule and the ocean tide.
• Seasonal position can be from 0 to 40 hours per week depending on business needs.
• Work indoors and in outside weather conditions (i.e., direct sunlight, wet and/or humid)
• Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels.
• Must be able to manage time wisely and set priorities effectively.
• Able to positively interact with guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly sweep the water surface and shoreline in the designated pyrotechnic debris fallout area to collect, remove, and manage particulate matter and debris from ignited and unignited pyrotechnic material including aerial shells, paper, cardboard, wires and fuses found during inspection of the water surface and shoreline.
• Walk in shallow water to collect debris that has landed offshore.
• Use shovels, rakes, brooms, nets, and other clean up equipment to collect pyrotechnic debris including small paper cartridges that have washed up on shore.
• All hazardous fireworks waste shall be handled and managed in accordance with applicable fireworks and hazardous waste laws as directed by the Entertainment Supervisor.
• Safely use tools such as nets from the deck area of the Entertainment Barge boat to collect floating debris from the waterways inside and around the designated pyrotechnic debris fallout area.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, Vendors and our Guests
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Occasionally assist other locations and areas in the park as needed.
