About The Position

Atlantic Health is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department at Morristown Medical Center. This role is crucial for ensuring the cleanest and safest healthcare environment for all team members, patients, and visitors. The Environmental Services Department is responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of common areas, outpatient areas, procedural areas, and patient rooms, including bathrooms, furniture, carpet/hard surface floors, vents, electronics, and patient equipment. The team utilizes high-quality sanitizing processes required by multiple regulatory agencies and collaborates with the Atlantic Health System Infection Prevention and Quality Departments to maintain consistent alignment across all sites. The position involves handling moderately complex issues and problems, referring more complex issues to higher-level staff, and includes cleaning of bodily fluids.

Requirements

HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Must be able to bend/push/pull/lift 50LBS.

Nice To Haves

Prior institutional housekeeping experience preferred.
1-2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality or relevant area preferred.

Responsibilities

Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
Reports any repairs to maintenance.
Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
