About The Position

AWK Consulting Engineers, Inc is currently seeking an Entry to Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineers or Geologists for our offices in Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, PA.

Requirements

0-5 years of applicable experience
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology
Able to travel statewide and work out of town on longer-term assignments
Must be physically capable of fieldwork
Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks to maximize efficiency
Valid PA driver's license

Nice To Haves

Work experience in the geotechnical/construction industry a plus
PennDOT Drilling Inspector Certification is preferred

Responsibilities

Inspection of test boring drilling activities and classification of soil and rock samples retrieved during drilling
Preparation of boring logs for various types of projects
Assisting with development of laboratory testing programs
Field reconnassaince
Assist project engineer in preparing soil reconnaissance report (Subsurface Exploration Planning Submission)
Design and analysis of various shallow and deep foundation systems for structures; including calculations to determine bearing resistance or load-carrying capacity of the foundations, along with estimation of foundation settlements under different subsurface conditions and structural loading combinations
Prepare Structure Foundation Reports and other geotechnical analyses, such as slope stability
Work will be performed under the supervision of senior project engineers and geologists
