About The Position

This is an entry‑level underground mining role supporting NISS’s mine‑development and infrastructure projects. NISS is seeking reliable, safety-focused individuals. This role supports underground mining, development, equipment operation, and daily mining activities.

Requirements

  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Background: Must be able to pass a Federal Background check.
  • Availability: Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Comfortable living in a remote camp while on rotation.
  • Punctuality: Must arrive on time, prepared to receive assignments and begin work at shift start.
  • Physical Demands: Capable of performing “heavy work” as defined by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, including lifting, carrying, climbing, shoveling, prying, and working in confined spaces.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work safely around moving equipment, in low‑visibility areas, and within confined underground environments
  • Aptitude: Ability to understand, follow engineered instructions, and apply safety strategies
  • Certification: Must be willing to complete an MSHA Part 48 - 40 Hour Underground

Nice To Haves

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification: Valid and current MSHA
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-year underground mining or similar experience

  • Support material movement, staging, and organization to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Continuously monitor ground conditions and environmental factors, reporting hazards immediately.
  • Adjust work practices to maintain safe and productive operations in variable conditions.
  • Maintain a reputation for reliability, accountability, and strong work ethic.
  • Represent NISS professionally in all interactions with coworkers, supervisors, and client personnel.
  • Comply with all NISS policies, site rules, state regulations, and federal MSHA standards.
  • Participate in required training, safety meetings, and competency evaluations.
