GFT is seeking an Entry Level Transit & Rail Engineer to join our Transit and Rail Team in Schaumburg, IL. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance. Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering or related degree program, pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- 0-3 years of experience in transit and railway engineering experience.
- Demonstrated interest in transit and railway engineering through prior internship or applied coursework experience.
- Familiarity with MicroStation or AutoCAD and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRoads.
- Familiarity with rail engineering principles and practices.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of industrial freight rail and transit projects.
- Participate in project meetings, coordinating with multiple disciplines to advance design solutions.
- Assist project engineers and managers in designing track alignment geometry and intermodal facility layouts.
- Perform engineering calculations, prepare drawings, and conduct quantity takeoffs to support project designs.
- Engage with the full design process, from initial concept through construction.
- Maintain organized project documentation and work areas to ensure design accuracy and efficiency
