About The Position

UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is seeking a full-time Entry Level Staff Accountant. Both recent graduates and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. This position will be based at our administrative office on Genesee Street in Cheektowaga, NY. The role will begin as a fully in-office position, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule as the selected candidate becomes familiar with the responsibilities and successfully integrates into the role. Position Summary The Entry-Level Accountant assists the Finance Department in maintaining accurate and timely financial records for the practice plan. This position supports the preparation, review, and analysis of financial data and reports to ensure compliance with established accounting standards and organizational policies. The role works under the direction of the Director of Finance and Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. CPA certification is not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Adobe is required.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • This position is primarily sedentary. Occasional light lifting may be required.
  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with light to moderate noise levels.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accounting records, including draft monthly and quarterly financial statements and other financial reports.
  • Review, analyze, and reconcile invoices within the practice management system.
  • Establish account records and enter financial transactions into appropriate accounts.
  • Maintain and ensure proper documentation and retention of financial records.
  • Cross-train in bookkeeping functions, including responsibilities such as daily cash balancing.
  • Cross-train as payroll backup.
  • Prepare and post monthly standard and general journal entries.
  • Prepare final monthly provider financial statements and distribute them to respective providers.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Record cash receipts and monthly revenue figures within the accounting system.
  • Record electronic payments not already entered by the Accounts Payable department.
  • Perform Accounts Payable Clerk functions as needed, cutting checks, entering invoices, processing ACH payments for UB Ortho, UB, and UBF systems.
  • Conduct account analysis on an as-needed basis.
  • Generate monthly or ad hoc reports from the EMR or other accounting-related systems.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly contractual invoices and reconcile invoicing for various state, research foundation, and University at Buffalo Foundation accounts.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
