About The Position

The Project Accountant at Sazan Group is an entry-level position designed for recent accounting graduates. This role focuses on supporting engineering consultant contracts through project setup, accounts receivable billing, and ensuring compliance with contract terms. The Project Accountant will work closely with the Controller and the corporate accounting department, contributing to multiple divisions across various states. Familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint is essential for resolving issues and assisting others in navigating the software.

Requirements

• AA or AS in accounting or related field
• 3+ years accounting experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
• Experience with Deltek VantagePoint and Paylocity preferred
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Detail oriented

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Deltek VantagePoint
• 1 year of accounting experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Understand contract terms to ensure proper financial management and compliance.
• Track project costs against the budget, identify variances, and work with project managers to ensure projects stay within financial constraints.
• Prepare and submit monthly client invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
• Issue AR statements on a quarterly basis and communicate with clients in a warm, respectful, and effective manner.
• Maintain thorough, accurate financial records and documentation related to each project.
• Communicate with subconsultants regarding accurate budgets and invoices. Review and approve subconsultant payment timing.
• Financial reporting to executive management.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to project finances.
• Actively learn Deltek VantagePoint to become highly efficient, solve issues, and help others navigate.
• Perform quality control on new client setups and project setups.
• Other accounting tasks as assigned, and cross training as back-up to other accounting team members.
