Arcadis is currently searching for an Entry-Level Geologist or Scientist or Environmental Engineer to join our Resilience Environment team in Hanover, MD. This position is slated to start in May 2026. Candidates graduating in May 2026 are encouraged to apply. As part of this role, you will be responsible for assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Fieldwork will be a key aspect of this position, which is where 60% of your efforts will be focused. This will offer you an opportunity to be trained to oversee drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys, among other tasks. It is essential to conduct fieldwork with a focus on health and safety. The other 40% of this position will require your strong communication and technical writing skills to contribute to the planning and reporting tasks associated with project field work. To be successful in this role, you should possess strong written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated, and exhibit independent thinking. You should be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely. Successful candidates will demonstrate their ability to be adaptable, creative problem solvers who can work collaboratively as a team member. This position encompasses a mix of field work and office work. Field work will comprise 60% of this position and it is estimated that local/regional travel will be the majority of field work with national travel opportunities. Why Arcadis? Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Engineering, or closely related field (i.e., environmental, biological, physical science)

Responsibilities

  • Conducting and documenting field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling in the field.
  • Field work may require local/regional travel and/or travel within the U.S. for up to two weeks at a time, depending on project demands. This will include emergency response support for various clients.
  • Coordinating with and overseeing the work of subcontractors.
  • Writing portions of technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda to support project teams.
  • Office work may include task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation support, report writing support, regulatory file review support, proposal support, and subcontractor management.
