About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Engineer or Scientist at our Middletown, CT location to support our Integrated Sustainability and Compliance (ISC) business line. As an Environmental Engineer/Scientist in ISC you will play a vital role in supporting environmental compliance programs. You will participate in site visits, inspections, audits, trainings, and meetings. Additionally, you will be involved in the collection of environmental samples to support client projects. Furthermore, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the development of technical plans. Overall, the role involves practical application of environmental compliance and fosters professional growth opportunities. The majority of site audits and field work carried out by the successful candidate will be within driving distance of Middletown, CT; however, occasional overnight travel (up to 25% of time) within the region or nationally to respond to the needs of Arcadis's clients will be required. This role is within our Resilience Global Business Area, where we work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. As part of our ISC team, you'll help improve quality of life. You will directly support our clients ambition to enhance their operational excellence by reducing incidents and improving regulatory compliance, operational performance, culture and asset value.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the environmental field.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental compliance policies, programs, procedures, and management systems.
  • Conduct various field activities including groundwater, soil, waste, and stormwater or wastewater sampling and other permit compliance sampling.
  • Perform data analytics and analyze data trends and risks to support client projects.
  • Assist with site visits, audits, trainings, report preparation, and meetings.
  • Review and evaluate regulatory permits and associated documentation.
  • Assist with the development of technical plans (e.g. spill prevention control and countermeasure plans, stormwater pollution prevention plans, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans).
  • Work both independently and with a team to provide our clients with solutions to their environmental compliance needs.
  • Support Arcadis team members in producing high quality work products for our clients.
