About The Position

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is looking for a motivated Entry-Level Civil/Dam Safety Engineer to join our Dam and Levee Safety Group in Fairfield, NJ . As an Entry-Level Civil/Dam Safety Engineer, you will bring your expertise and unique solutions to highly visible and challenging projects. You will also work in a team of dedicated Project Managers, Principals and other Engineers. If you have a strong academic record, solid understanding of civil engineering principles (specifically geotechnical, hydrological and hydraulic engineering), and a desire to work on dams and levees, apply today! Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, technical writing and organizational skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency required; AutoCAD skills and GIS proficiency are preferred.
  • Candidate must have consistent means of transportation to/from project sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical or hydrological and hydraulic (H&H) focus is preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience, including construction oversight, as an Engineer is preferred.
  • Experience or academic training with geotechnical computer software such as SEEP/W and SLOPE/W, and/or H&H computer software such as HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS is preferred.
  • Occasional out-of-town travel will be required.
  • EIT certification or able to obtain certification within 6 months of hiring is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing construction phase services for dam and levee rehabilitation projects and conducting fieldwork including dam and levee safety inspections.
  • Data collection, organization and interpretation in support of dam/levee inspections, evaluations, and rehabilitation projects.
  • Executing various engineering analyses, under the direction of a senior engineer to support dam rehabilitation and decommissioning.
  • Writing drafts of field reports, inspection/engineering reports, technical specifications, and permit applications.
  • Preparing construction plans.
  • Performing cost/quantity estimates and project scheduling.
  • Communicating effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients and team members.
