As an Entry-Level Air Permitting Engineer, you will support environmental compliance projects by collecting field data, interpreting regulatory requirements, and preparing technical documentation. You’ll gain exposure to federal and state air regulations, emissions modeling, multimedia compliance, and a wide range of environmental programs. This role blends technical analysis, fieldwork, and client interaction—ideal for someone who enjoys variety and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering math and chemistry foundation
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical and regulatory documents
  • Excellent technical writing abilities
  • Clear and effective verbal communication
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office and relevant engineering or environmental software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering; Meteorology; or a related technical field
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in environmental compliance or consulting (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct air emission calculations for industrial and commercial operations
  • Determine applicability of air permitting requirements, including NSPS and NESHAP standards
  • Prepare air permit applications and supporting documentation
  • Assist with air permitting recordkeeping and regulatory reporting
  • Participate in multimedia compliance audits
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) evaluations
  • Assist with wastewater permitting (general and specific)
  • Support hazardous waste management compliance activities
  • Prepare stormwater permits and spill control plans
  • Learn and support air dispersion modeling (experience not required; interest is a plus)
  • Review and interpret technical documents, regulations, and engineering data
  • Communicate findings clearly through technical writing and client correspondence
