About The Position

The Entry-Level Buyer supports the day-to-day procurement of goods and services needed for operations. This role focuses on learning and executing core purchasing activities, including placing orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining accurate system data. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to develop foundational procurement and supply chain skills in a fast-paced environment. The role partners with internal teams and suppliers to help ensure materials are available to meet production and business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and internships/co-op experience.
  • 0–2 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or a related field (internships or project work considered).
  • Basic understanding of procurement or supply chain concepts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (basic formulas, data organization).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a supply chain or procurement function.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or co-op experience in supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing.
  • Exposure to ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) through coursework or experience.
  • Interest in pursuing supply chain certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPIM, CSCP).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, distribution, or operations environment (academic or hands-on).

Responsibilities

  • Create and process purchase orders for materials, components, and services based on demand requirements.
  • Track and follow up on open orders to help ensure on-time delivery.
  • Assist in resolving basic issues related to delivery delays, order discrepancies, or invoice mismatches.
  • Support the purchase-to-pay process, including requisition entry and invoice coordination.
  • Serve as a point of contact for routine supplier communications (order confirmations, status updates, etc.).
  • Build working relationships with suppliers to support reliable delivery and service.
  • Escalate more complex supplier issues to senior team members as needed.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP/MRP systems (pricing, lead times, supplier details).
  • Assist with basic reporting on purchase orders, delivery status, and spend tracking.
  • Support data analysis efforts to identify trends or improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with planning and inventory teams to help maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Assist in monitoring potential shortages or excess inventory.
  • Support resolution of non-conforming materials in coordination with quality teams.
  • Work with production, engineering, quality, and finance teams to understand material needs.
  • Provide updates on order status and help communicate potential supply risks.
  • Participate in team projects focused on improving procurement processes and systems.
