The salary range for this position is $95,000.00 - $114,790.00 based on experience and education. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. During your onsite days you will work at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building located at 201 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80202. Office hours are 8:00AM – 5:00PM. What You’ll Do Municipal Operations provides full service legal representation and advice to City officials, agencies and employees in the areas of general municipal law, environmental regulation and compliance, procurement, government contracting, sales and property tax, municipal finance, bankruptcy, real estate, land use and commercial litigation. This section offers a steady stream of clients with an incredible variety of legal needs. The Denver City's Attorney's Office is one of the largest law firms in Colorado, with over 230 attorneys and staff members comprised of paralegals, victim advocates, and other support and supervisory staff members. It may have the most diverse practice of any law firm in Colorado. Clients include the Mayor; the Auditor; the Clerk and Recorder; City Council; and all city agencies, departments, offices, boards, commissions and authorities. Requirements

  • Education requirement: Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree or Bachelor of Laws Degree
  • Experience Requirement: None
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted.
  • License/Certifications: Possession of a license to practice law in Colorado from the Colorado Supreme Court by the date of hire or a reasonable expectation of becoming licensed by the Colorado Supreme Court by the date of hire in accordance with C.R.C.P. 203.2, 203.3, 203.4 and 205.6 Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

Responsibilities

  • Advising and counseling City officials and agencies regarding the government contracting, general municipal law, public finance including tax and bankruptcy, representing the City in front of the Public Utilities Commission and other related topics
  • Negotiating transactions and drafting contracts
  • Drafting and interpreting City ordinances, rules and regulations, and charter requirements
  • Performs routine legal research and assists with research of more complex legal problems, under the supervision of a higher-level attorney.
  • Assists attorneys working in specialized areas with litigation support, research, and related activities.
  • Assists in drafting memoranda, motions, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
