About The Position

Provides leadership and guidance to Entertainment Venue Usher staff during events at the OC Fair’s Action Sports Arena, The Hangar, and Pacific Amphitheatre. Supports Usher Staff by stepping in during busy times to assist guests as they enter seating areas and other areas of the facility. OC Fair concert events will begin in May and potentially continue through September, with the majority of events scheduled in July and August. During the annual OC Fair (July 17 – August 16), concerts are held Wednesday through Sunday. Shifts are typically from 5pm – 11pm. Applicants are required to be fully available and commit to working all concerts during the OC Fair through the end of the concert season. Scheduling is based on the concert event schedule and is subject to change depending on the approved dates of our 2026 concert events.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Excellent customer service skills a must.
  • Ability to be kind, considerate and patient.
  • Must be able to think quickly and problem solve.
  • Must be able to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair and possibly pre-Fair and post-Fair events.
  • Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must have good vision and be able to work in dark environments. Must be able hear and speak clearly in high volume environments. Ascend and descend steps quickly and frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to Entertainment Venue Usher Staff before, during, and after events.
  • Acts as an OCFEC ambassador by ensuring guests feel welcome at the venues.
  • Ensures that Usher Staff are politely engaging with guests and directing them to their seats and to other services around the facility; including restrooms, first-aid, and other event-specific locations as directed by the Entertainment leadership team.
  • Assists Usher Staff Supervisor in coordination of staffing needs and scheduling.
  • Assists Usher Staff Supervisor in communicating special circumstances related to related to a given event performance.
  • Learns OCFEC performance venues seating configuration to assist guests in safely finding their seats.
  • Provides excellent customer service to Fair patrons by communicating seating locations, answering questions and providing information about shows and events.
  • Must learn, and follow, the proper procedures for assisting patrons with disabilities.
  • Ensures a safe environment by maintaining awareness of surrounding, clear aisles and reporting any safety or suspicious behavior to Supervisor and/or Security staff.
  • Gain a strong understanding of all venue layouts within OCFEC and a good understanding of evacuation procedures from all locations within each venue to direct and maintain the safety of guests and all others who might be in harm’s way.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as directed, requested or assigned.
