Together, Ravinia’s initiatives serve tens of thousands of students, families, and emerging professional musicians. Our 36-acre park is home to North America’s longest-running outdoor music festival and its most artistically diverse. Over 100 different events, featuring a mix of classical, rock, pop, jazz, R&B, indie, and country performers, make up a typical summer season across our open-air and indoor stages, including the annual residency of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Position Summary: The Ravinia guest experience extends far beyond the performance on stage. Our beautiful and welcoming park is central to what makes attending a concert at Ravinia truly special. From morning to night, every team member plays a vital role in creating an exceptional live music experience. The Usher serves as a key frontline representative of Ravinia, responsible for welcoming guests, providing directional assistance, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment. This role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to engage positively with a diverse audience. Shifts may vary and can include hours from park opening through closing.
Requirements
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to handle guest concerns with empathy and professionalism
- Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be at least 16 years of age
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests at venue entry points in a friendly and professional manner
- Assist guests with locating their seats by interpreting ticket information and venue seating maps
- Provide accurate information about park amenities, directions, and event logistics
- Enforce Ravinia policies and procedures in a respectful and consistent manner
- Support post-event duties, including maintaining cleanliness of seating areas
- Respond to guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism and a solutions-oriented approach
