Job Summary The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Enterprise Backup and Storage Administrator (IT Storage Engineer Specialist III /IV) with experience managing SAN, NAS and backup environments. You will be part of the Computational Services team that oversees the enterprise and technical server and storage platforms for the Aerospace Corporation. The team oversees thousands of enterprise and high-performance computing systems both on-premise as well as in the cloud. We work with rocket scientists and engineers to develop cutting edge solutions to complex space enterprise problems and to assure mission success of critical national space assets. In your role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our enterprise storage environment, which include SAN, NAS and backup. S/he will be working and collaborating with other cross-functional team members who all have a strong sense of shared responsibility and ownership. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.

Requirements

  • A minimum of (3) or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in an IT server/storage support role, including enterprise backups, preferably with NetBackup, is required
  • Experience with large enterprise tape libraries including administration of off-site vaulting
  • Basic working knowledge of computing systems (i.e., Microsoft Windows-and Linux-based servers) is required
  • Familiar with basic SAN and NAS concepts and technologies including SAN zoning and LUN security, NFS, and Windows shares
  • Document and train operations staff to run and maintain storage infrastructure
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills, with ability to remain professional and courteous in stressful situations
  • The ability to obtain a CompTIA Security+ CE certification or equivalent which meets DoD 8570.01-M requirements for IAT Level II personnel will be required
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
  • A minimum of (5) or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in an IT server/storage support role, including enterprise backups, preferably with NetBackup, is required
  • A minimum of (3) or more years of with enterprise SAN and NAS preferably NetApp and Hitachi storage systems
  • Experience performing SAN operations such as creating LUNs, LUN security
  • Experience with fibre channel SAN infrastructure including SAN zoning
  • Experience with provisioning and maintaining NFS and Windows shares on NAS storage

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience with Agile and Scrum is strongly preferred
  • Experience with NAS replication and data protection solutions is desired
  • Cisco MDS fibre channel switch experience is beneficial
  • Object storage experience is a value-add
  • CompTIA Security+ CE certification or equivalent that meets DoD 8570.01-M requirements for IAT Level II personnel is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform backup operations support for Windows, Linux, Hyper-V and NAS systems including:
  • Backup and restore support
  • Maintain and support backup jobs and policies
  • Monitor backup environments
  • Report and escalate critical backup environment issues
  • Create and report backup environment status
  • Maintain and update backup environment auditing reports and logs
  • Perform backup tape operations tasks including maintaining large enterprise tape libraries and offsite tape exchanges
  • Perform capacity reports
  • Work closely with other engineers across functional teams in areas such as Windows, Linux, high performance computing and networking
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in collaborative, geographically distributed team
  • Must have a strong work ethic, organized and detail-oriented, be a self-starter with excellent time-management, good problem solving and multitasking skills
