About The Position

Assist the Director with the administration and direction of operations activities for the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and related facilities. Works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, management or closely related field.
  • Requires six (6) years progressive work in operations management or closely related experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must secure and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License based on area of assignment
  • Must secure and maintain for the duration of employment - Airfield driving privileges
  • Must secure and maintain for the duration of employment - Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) access with Customs and Border Protection Seal.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as point person or team leader for organization and coordination of routine day-to-day functioning, fulfilling the team mission to respond to customer needs with a solution oriented team providing creative and effective resolution to a broad range of issues.
  • Manages individual and operational performance and productivity for employees of varying job titles and professions; reviews schedules, productivity, work quality, resource availability, performance and other operation functions as necessary.
  • Coordinates operations meetings that may include security, business development, business administration, and other operation sections.
  • Performs Operations Division administrative functions such as approving purchases, overtime tracking, payroll, personnel evaluations, and correspondence; reviews daily activity reports from each major functioning area of the organization, including following up on any anomalies or exceptions that may require immediate or urgent attention.
  • Meets with staff and leadership team to discuss any issues that may arise and discuss immediate resolution to these issues.
  • Directs employee issues working with Human Resources and senior management staff; provides guidance and actively participates in the recruitment process.
  • Attends schedule meetings per calendar outline, including monthly operations and maintenance performance meetings, and project meeting updates for all the functioning areas; attends and leads meetings to discuss performance progress on goals and objectives in their respective areas of control, and prepares performance appraisals.
  • Assist with directing all activities related to Landside/Ground Transportation Operations, Airside Operations, Airport Control Center, and Terminal Operations, Airport Parking, and Airport Construction Coordination.
  • Work includes overseeing and ensuring the 24-hour operation of the landside/ground transportation plan, terminal operations, administration, including the enforcement of airport rules and regulations, and airside operations, to include compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, policies and procedures, airport parking operations, and airport construction coordination.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of strategic, fiscal, and capital improvement budgets for the Division.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures to ensure operational compliance with County policy, and federal, state and local rules and regulations pertaining to airport certification which includes inspection of airfield pavement, lighting and markings and preparing and maintaining emergency response and security plans.
  • Assist with the development and implementation policies and procedures to ensure the safety, convenience and flow of passengers using the airport facilities, including roadway access, parking facilities, terminal amenities, and loading gates with a focus on the guest experience.
  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the Division budget and ensures adherence to budget throughout the entire fiscal year; prepares special reports as required.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of employee training and development programs including emergency preparedness.
  • Assist in managing human resources and labor relations issues including staffing, performance, recognition, and discipline.
  • Direct, manage and supervise a large workforce that consists of personnel from various job descriptions and classifications that work a 24/7 schedule utilizing a variety of specialized equipment under sometimes extreme conditions.
  • Represents the County before community groups, service organizations, and civic committees to promote the development and use of airport facilities; provides liaison with all stakeholders. Meets and shares ideas to formulate department-wide policy and action planning.
  • Respond to airport emergencies, including staffing of County and Airport Emergency Operations Centers.
  • Monitors compliance with all active contracts and agreements.
  • Attends public and professional meetings, conferences, seminars, and training.
  • Serves as acting Division Director in the absence of Director.
  • Administers the County's Aviation Operations program; directs through subordinates the planning, scheduling, and coordination of divisional activities; develops policies, procedures, and priorities to meet established goals.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
