About The Position

Sabot Consulting is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to support the modernization and replacement of State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) information systems. This role is responsible for defining future-state enterprise architecture, guiding technology modernization decisions, and ensuring solution alignment across business processes, data, applications, and infrastructure supporting preservation programs such as Environmental Reviews, Historic Tax Incentives, and the National Register of Historic Places.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience modernizing or replacing State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) information systems.
  • Experience delivering IT architecture services for preservation programs such as Environmental Reviews, Historic Tax Incentives, and National Register programs.
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale system modernization initiatives exceeding $1M.
  • Hands-on experience defining enterprise and solution architecture in ArcGIS-based environments.
  • Experience leading or supporting Microsoft Access migrations to modern platforms.
  • Experience designing integrations with ERP systems and SharePoint in complex legacy environments.
  • Strong background in enterprise architecture, solution design, and technical standards development.
  • Experience with data migration, system integration, and interoperability architecture.
  • Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within state or federal government enterprise architecture environments.
  • Familiarity with preservation or regulatory program workflows and data standards.
  • Experience supporting architecture governance boards or review committees.
  • Experience contributing to phased road maps and long-term modernization strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the target-state enterprise architecture for SHPO system modernization initiatives.
  • Assess current-state systems, data flows, integrations, and technical debt across legacy and modern platforms.
  • Develop architecture and solution design artifacts, including context diagrams, logical and physical architectures, and integration patterns.
  • Provide architectural leadership for modernization efforts exceeding $1M in scope and complexity.
  • Guide modernization of ArcGIS-based environments and migration from Microsoft Access and other legacy data stores.
  • Define integration strategies with ERP systems, SharePoint, and external partner systems.
  • Ensure alignment with state enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and regulatory constraints.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, GIS specialists, and vendors to ensure architectural consistency.
  • Support data migration, data governance, and interoperability design decisions.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and architecture governance activities.
  • Support UAT planning, implementation readiness, and post-production transition from an architectural perspective.
