About The Position

The application administrator conducts the analysis, design and programming of sophisticated information systems to address business needs. Functions as a team member, team/project leader or an independent developer depending on the nature of business needs. Maintains an awareness of business issues, and proactively engages in research and discussions on topics that may affect IT or the company as a whole.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent required.
  • Must have experience with enterprise grade systems and databases.
  • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people.
  • Regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues.
  • Must have the ability to focus on details resulting in quality work requiring minimal management review.
  • 5 + years' experience in appropriate programming and database environments.

Responsibilities

  • Display a friendly, courteous attitude towards customers, fellow employees, and co-workers at all times.
  • Be professional in appearance and demeanor.
  • Develop systems solutions to business problems by researching and analyzing user and business needs as directed.
  • Administer certain hardware and software residing on the iSeries hardware platform, which will include both Accounting and Human Resources applications.
  • Design, implement and maintain database security based on company policy, best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure trouble-free performance by testing to ensure that a system will produce expected results.
  • Possess overall understanding of IT architecture, infrastructure standards, database platforms and programming languages and tools.
  • Establish and maintain back-up and recovery plans to ensure data safety. Will document and test back-up recovery plans to verify the integrity of restored data.
  • Enhance value to the company by remaining technically competent on the operating systems, programming languages and computer hardware and software used in the environment.
  • Be available to assist in IT emergencies.
  • Be willing and able to perform other duties as assigned and directed by management.
