They will provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services, as delegated by a physician. Working as members of the health care team, they take medical histories, examine and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays and make diagnoses. They may also treat minor injuries, by suturing, splinting and casting. They will record progress notes, instruct and counsel patients, order and carry out therapies and update charts. May, if eligible, prescribe some medications. When working in a surgical arena, may provide preoperative and postoperative care and possibly work as first or second assistants during major surgeries. Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant
  • Physician Assistant 1-3 years
  • Licensed Physician Assistant Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Physician Assistants
  • Physician Assistant-Certified - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced level of direct and indirect care to individual patients/families and/or groups of patients/families in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Demonstrates collaborative leadership with researchers, other health professionals, divisions, and departments to generate knowledge and make practice changes based on research findings, as well as, the results of the organizational and departmental quality improvement processes.
