A results-driven educator with experience in, and commitment to, the use of data analysis and assessments to drive instructional decisions and teacher accountability. A graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program (required), with 2 years of urban teaching experience and state certification (preferred). Bilingual in Spanish or French (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver push-in and pull-out ENL instruction across grade bands, aligned to scholars’ English proficiency levels and grade level content expectations.
  • Work with 2+ campuses in Harlem and/or the Bronx to deliver targeted ENL support to MLL scholars, following a consistent rotation schedule with flexibility based on campus needs.
  • Create an inclusive classroom and school community that promotes language development, academic rigor, and scholar confidence by engaging in training, reflection, and dialogue around issues of race, identity, diversity, equity, and inclusion for our staff and scholars.
  • Plan and co-plan with general education teachers to effectively implement a coherent, research-based curriculum that supports MLLs’ access to grade-level content and development of English language proficiency.
  • Monitor, track, and update English Language Proficiency goals (ELPs) for assigned MLL caseload, using progress-monitoring data to inform instruction, service delivery, and collaboration with general education teachers and school teams.
  • Create, monitor, and sustain a disciplined school culture of high academic and behavioral standards.
  • Develop and use a variety of assessment data to refine curricula and instructional practice.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues.
  • Administer the NYSITELL/NYSESLAT/WIDA to MLL scholars in accordance with NYS protocols to assess English proficiency.
  • Continuously improve your professional practice through weekly coaching sessions, professional development, and data-driven reflection.
