Our ELD Teachers will play a critical role in advancing Multilingual learners’ (MLLs) knowledge and use of English in increasingly sophisticated ways, especially focused on the successful use of academic language necessary to accelerate their learning. The primary service delivery model for English Language Development instruction at DSST is a Co-Taught model. You can learn more about the vision here. Depending on campus, the ELD instructional model may differ, but typically includes: Middle School: Pull out courses, differentiated by emerging, intermediate, and advanced language proficiencies, that emphasize the functional and communicative language approaches Co-taught and integrated ELD/Social Studies or Co-taught and integrated ELD/Writing in which content is the vehicle for direct language instruction High School: Co-taught and integrated ELD/Composition in which content is the vehicle for direct language instruction; and/or Pull out courses for emerging and low intermediate proficiencies that emphasize the functional and communicative language approaches We will inquire about your grade level and campus specific preference at the time of interview.
