About The Position

As an English Language Arts teacher, you will be responsible for delivering five 50-minute daily classes focused on building literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the Gradual Release of Responsibility instructional model and experienced in planning lessons using the Backward Design framework. This role requires active collaboration within professional learning communities, the use of data to inform instruction, and the development of curriculum aligned with Colorado Academic Standards. Emphasis is placed on fostering measurable student growth, promoting academic proficiency, and equipping students with the skills necessary for post-secondary success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts in English/Language Arts (required)
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License with a Secondary English/Language Arts.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to change.
  • Possesses computer and technology skills.
  • Effectively works with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Collaborates well with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Capable of understanding and following both complex oral and written instructions.
  • Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates effectively with the School District community.
  • Skilled in analysis, instruction, negotiation, coordination, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficient in comparing, computing, synthesizing, and evaluating information.
  • Meets attendance standards and works the necessary hours to fulfill essential responsibilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Upholds a generally positive attitude.
  • Complies with all District policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 10 (ten) pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, bending, walking, and standing.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Environment & Student Engagement Create a positive learning environment and effective management structures to purposefully promote and support effective teaching, learning, and student achievement.
  • Establish instructional routines that encourage student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
  • Collaborate with specialists to provide inclusive learning opportunities and implement research-based best practices for students with special needs.
  • Promote a respectful learning environment that upholds student dignity and is perceived as fair and consistent.
  • Incorporate differentiated learning opportunities for both advanced and non-proficient students.
  • Maintain organized and effective classroom processes, procedures, and data collection to maximize instructional time.
  • Motivate, engage, and empower students to take ownership of tracking and monitoring their learning progress.
  • Guide students in developing strong content knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Curriculum Development & Instructional Planning Design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments using modern tools and resources to enhance contextual learning and support 21st Century skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across grade levels or subjects to establish cross-disciplinary connections and influence broader curriculum and teaching practices.
  • Demonstrate content mastery and deliver a rigorous, relevant curriculum tailored to all students.
  • Connect content to real-world applications to increase student engagement and understanding.
  • Integrate Colorado Academic Standards with instructional objectives, strategies, activities, resources, and assessments, and differentiate planning based on student needs.
  • Utilize data management tools to analyze student performance, identify strengths, and address areas for improvement.
  • Feedback, Communication & Relationships Provide constructive, accurate, and timely feedback that encourages students to perform at their highest potential.
  • Communicate with stakeholders using technology and other platforms (e.g., websites, podcasts).
  • Foster strong relationships with students, staff, and parents to proactively address and resolve issues.
  • Professional Development & Leadership Actively participate in staff meetings, PLCs, and required events, contributing to a collaborative professional culture.
  • Apply new knowledge and skills to enhance instructional practices.
  • Advocate for and lead initiatives aimed at improving student success both in and out of the classroom.
  • Adhere to the professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to support ethical decision-making.
  • Other Responsibilities Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested.
