About The Position

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (F3009 2026-24412): Bowhead seeks a Engineering Technician to join our team in supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division. The Engineering Technician indepedntly plans and accomplishes complete projects or studies of a broad scope of complexity and serves as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics with a minimum of ten (10) to ten (15) fifteen years of relevant experience is required at a minimum
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Must be able to obtain a clearance at a Secret level, however candidates with an active Secret level clearance are highly encouraged to apply.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience at NSWC Crane highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (e.g., heating system in an office building or new electronic componets such as solid state devices for instrumentation equipment).
  • Plans approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques.
  • Resolves design problems with contract personnel and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system.
  • Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design.
  • Uses untried and untested measurement techniques and improves the performance of the equipment. May advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies.
  • Plans approach and conducts various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation.
  • Arranges for fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
