About The Position

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (F3009 2026-24412): Bowhead seeks a Engineering Technician to join our team in supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division. The Engineering Technician indepedntly plans and accomplishes complete projects or studies of a broad scope of complexity and serves as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering. Responsibilities Essential functions will include: Prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (e.g., heating system in an office building or new electronic componets such as solid state devices for instrumentation equipment). Plans approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques. Resolves design problems with contract personnel and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system. Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design. Uses untried and untested measurement techniques and improves the performance of the equipment. May advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies. Plans approach and conducts various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation. Arranges for fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics with a minimum of ten (10) to ten (15) fifteen years of relevant experience is required at a minimum
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
  • Must be able to obtain a clearance at a Secret level, however candidates with an active Secret level clearance are highly encouraged to apply.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

  • Prior experience at NSWC Crane highly preferred
