About The Position

JSL is seeking an Engineering Technician III to support the Command-Wide Engineering Support Services (CESS) Program, with the goal of providing quality systems engineering and technical expertise to aggressively improve Warfighter readiness, as well as to improve and modernize the delivery, quality, and cost of products and services. Port Hueneme Division (PHD) of Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) is responsible for Combat Systems; Test & Evaluation; Digital Engineering; Sensors, Weapons & Launchers; Modernization & Installation; Aegis; Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Cooperative Engagement Capability; Fire Control System (FCS) MK 92; Fire Control System MK 99; Guided Missile Launching System; Vertical Launch Systems; Ship Self Defense System (SSDS);Tomahawk Weapon Control Systems/Suites; Guns Weapons Systems; and DDG 1000.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required to be considered for this position
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • At least 1 year of work-related experience in electrical/electronic systems or technical engineering support is required.
  • Experience reading, interpreting and developing Engineering Drawings/Blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to write reports and review/develop technical documentation such as technical manuals as well as installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a variety of personnel at external activities
  • Organization and prioritization skills
  • Able to use MS Office Software Products such as Word and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school training or some college-level coursework in engineering, electronics, or relevant technical fields

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed.
  • Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed.
  • Perform recurring work independently.
  • Review work for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
  • Constructing components, sub-units, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; troubleshoot and correct malfunctions
  • Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and sub-units of equipment.
  • Conduct various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data.
  • Extract and compile a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.
  • Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
