The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. Lead Technician to be a recognized Subject Matter Expert / Technical Operations Lead for multiple systems. Primary support will be core stage operations and core stage GSE maintenance. Individual will support Launch Vehicle Processing of the Artemis Launch Vehicles at Kennedy Space Center. This support will include flight hardware assembly operations, testing and validations of flight and ground systems. Guide department technicians in a team environment, insuring detailed instructions and schematics are being followed for all aspects of flight hardware. Responsible for reviewing daily schedules and assigning tasks to technicians. Attend necessary meetings as department representative. Oversee and verify technician certifications. Monitor daily work crew progress and report progress to appropriate Flow Management / Area Integrators / Department Manager. Resolve issues that arise with department technicians. Examples: work authorization clarification, tools or materials needed, questions involving drawings or specs. Establish close communication with engineering. Perform Task Team Leader (TTL) function on critical operations for flight hardware systems and / or Ground Support Equipment systems. Perform internal audits (toolboxes, has-waste, JSA's, etc.) per the direction of management. Designated Training Instructor for any lower-level technicians on flight and ground systems. Has supported processing for a minimum of 1 launch campaign (Artemis, Shuttle, or another launch program). Candidate will instill safety and direction to group and be involved with department property account responsibilities.
