About The Position

This position will work as a member of Tesla’s Engineering Test Team to support vehicle level testing for Reliability and Durability tests performed in-house and at external test labs. The primary responsibility of this role is to collaborate directly with engineering teams in executing vehicle level tests at various proving grounds. The successful candidate for this position must have a broad background in automotive maintenance and testing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years in the automotive service industry, with a preference for 3+ years in engineering prototype or product validation
  • Technical/automotive ASE (or equivalent) certification required
  • Advanced capabilities in diagnosing electric/hybrid vehicles, NVH, low and high voltage systems, CAN communication, and proficiency with meters and oscilloscopes, including hi-pot testing
  • In-depth understanding of full vehicle systems, including chassis, suspension, powertrain, low and high voltage electronics, closures, air conditioning, and body controls
  • Proficient use of MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint) and Tesla systems like Jira to communicate results and failures effectively
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines with strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel up to 30% within a 100-mile radius and an additional 10% across the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic fabrication skills (bandsaws, drill press, MIG/TIG welding), instrumentation knowledge (accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gauges), and experience with vehicle/controller firmware deployment and diagnosis

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with test engineers & technicians in vehicle test execution including, but not limited to, test setup, inspections, diagnosis, part retrofits and driving
  • Communicate directly to various engineering teams in status updates and problem solving using various methods (e.g. Email, MS Teams, JIRA)
  • Support various teams within the engineering organization where priorities is required
  • General shop maintenance & upkeep
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Time Management: Independently manage your time to successfully complete parallel assignments, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting project deadlines
