The primary purpose of the Rehabilitation Engineering Technician II is to support the five Rehabilitation Engineer I positions that work in the Eastern region. The Engineering Technician II will apply creative, engineering problem solving precepts to develop recommendations that would enable persons with disabilities to function as independently as possible. At least 95% of the presented problems pertain to the needs of individual consumers who have severe disabilities and are referred to the engineer by either an Independent Living Counselor or a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Job duties will include but not be limited to making recommendations for suitable home and work modifications for persons with disabilities, review completed projects, and work as a liaison with the contractors. Duty station will be located in the Eastern Region at the discretion of management and program needs.
