INDUS provides industrial support services across the Undersea Weapons Department (Code 30), Test and Evaluation Department (Code 20), Undersea Systems & Sustainment Department (Code 40) and Unmanned and Theater Undersea Warfare Systems Department (Code 50), of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division, Keyport (NUWCDIVKPT). Requirements include providing technical support services associated with various industrial operations, depot repair activities, and torpedo intermediate maintenance functions. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Engineering Technician II assembles and disassembles, repairs, cleans, and provides engineering and preventative maintenance to vehicle shells, buoys, and components in support of programs on the NUWCDIVKPT Industrial Support Services (ISS) contract. This position is located in Keyport, WA. This position works a specific shift: Daytime shift (schedule TBD pending government direction); possible swing shift may be required to meet emergent needs (swing shift differential provided).

Requirements

  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • At least two (2) years of experience providing industrial operations support.
  • Must be able to work a swing shift as required to support operational needs.
  • Must be licensed and certified to operate 6,000 pound electric and diesel forklift and CAT III overhead crane.
  • Your ability to receive medical certification (if required).
  • Your ability to obtain and maintain any appropriate licenses and certifications (if required).
  • Must be able to comprehend and execute written and verbal trainings and procedures.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be able to follow and complete web-based training modules and other on-the-job training as required.
  • Must complete INDOC training, including a mandatory two-week education and familiarization course with a follow-on comprehension test for positions within the Torpedo Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA) and Torpedo Depot.
  • Must complete additional QUALS training specific to Engineering Technician skillsets.
  • Some manual lifting up to 75 pounds may be required with this position.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as in performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area or on-board submarines and in weapon facilities.
  • The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision. Examples may include but are not limited to: Electric/Diesel Forklift, CNC Milling Machine, Welding/Soldering, CAT III Overhead Crane, pallet jack, "Big Joe" stand-behind pallet lift mechanism, and more.
  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 75 pounds.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as in performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area or on-board submarines and in weapon facilities.
  • The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision. Examples may include but are not limited to: Electric/Diesel Forklift, CNC Milling Machine, Welding/Soldering, CAT III Overhead Crane, pallet jack, "Big Joe" stand-behind pallet lift mechanism, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble or install equipment and parts requiring basic wiring, soldering, or connections.
  • Perform simple, routine tasks under close supervision or in accordance with detailed procedures; work is reviewed during progress or upon completion.
  • Cross train across Engineering Technician areas within the ISS Contract, including (but not limited to) Torpedo Depot and Torpedo Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA), through 3–6-month rotations.
  • Perform duties during assigned rotations as directed by coordinating Task Leads, the Deputy Program Manager, and the Program Manager.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including full-body PPE for extended periods during certain rotations.
  • Perform duties that may involve occupational exposure to hazardous substances such as Otto Fuel II, lead, chromium, or cadmium.
  • Complete required physical and medical certifications associated with assigned duties (provided and paid for by the employer).
  • Perform cleaning-intensive tasks, including extensive cleaning of parts, in roles designated as “dirty” jobs.
  • Rotate in and out of various roles as part of the cross-training program.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
