About The Position

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II This is a waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization position, working within shipyards and drydocks onboard U.S. Naval ships. The incumbent will be working in varying temperatures of high heat in the summer and cold in the winter preforming the following tasks: Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs and tests various types of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment and related devices. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems. Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized test and diagnostic equipment. Modifies circuitry to improve performance. Makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems. Provides operation and maintenance instruction to customer personnel. Prepares operating and malfunction reports and related documentation. Assists engineering staff in determining and solving equipment design problems. May perform quality assurance testing of assemblies and equipment fabricated by other technicians. May provide work leadership to less-experienced technicians. Participates in special projects, as required. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Requirements

  • Associates of Arts/Associates of Science.
  • 1+ years of related experience.
  • US Citizenship Required
