About The Position

This position is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and repair of equipment and facilities. Exercises engineering protocols. Assists in activities related to product design, development, and production. Exhibits knowledge of operations in the assigned work area. Projects a positive example for others to follow in the workplace. Freedom to act, under close supervision, in semi-structured assignments that generally require adherence to defined procedures and specific, detailed instructions with limited originality. Solves problems of moderate scope and complexity. Demonstrates Viant Values. Position Authority: Under close supervision, performs entry-level duties as assigned in the installation, modification, design, maintenance, and repair of equipment and machinery used in medical device manufacturing and general facilities and performs related duties as assigned. Makes recommendations and reviews with supervisor OR team members in semi-structured assignments to develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy. Reviews progress and evaluate results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Must be able to use standard hand and power tools, shop equipment, meters, and test equipment to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Detail-oriented and able to exercise sound judgment in problem-solving.
  • Ability to develop technical solutions to address problems while minimizing cost and impact on the schedule.
  • Reads and comprehends simple specifications, plans, and shop drawings.
  • Ability to communicate problems to effect corrective action.
  • Maintains a positive attitude with respect to changes in processes and methods.
  • Maintains high standards of quality.
  • Possesses written and oral communications skills sufficient to speak clearly and distinctly, write reports, and read work-related instructions, rules, and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year associate degree in engineering technology or related technical field preferred.
  • Preferred working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of quality system requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge - MS office. Basic - MinitabExperience working in a production facility or cleanroom a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with equipment maintenance software are a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of equipment operation and equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Basic PLC and automation integration knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Keeps manufacturing equipment and devices operational, supports systems and building ready for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, coordinating and overseeing building contractors, maintaining maintenance records, following policies and procedures, completing repairs and installing replacement parts, and reporting needed changes.
  • Generates, reviews, and modifies PM procedures, Work Instructions, spare part requests, purchase requisitions, Facility Work Orders, etc.
  • Applies basic technical skills, standard methodologies, or processes to perform routine activities.
  • Assists Manufacturing staff in monitoring operating equipment daily, troubleshooting problems and inefficiencies, and recommending possible solutions
  • Performs testing per engineering protocols, recording equipment used, and results achieved in verification test reports.
  • Designs, builds, tests, and documents simple manufacturing test fixtures and assembly aids.
  • Collaborates with manufacturing and engineering to develop assembly and test instructions.
  • Creates manufacturing prototypes.
  • Collaborates with management to troubleshoot process issues and provide suggestions for process improvements.
  • Provides technical assistance to production by answering questions when needed.
  • Interfaces with production teams to improve the assembly process.
  • Performs research for new product components, tools, and equipment, as required.
  • Assists Quality Assurance with incident/problem investigations and reviews.
  • Assists with and participates in technical engineering projects
  • Participates effectively in cross-organization projects and team tasks.
  • Identifies areas for process improvement and makes recommendations to management.
  • Uses standard operating procedures to solve routine problems.
  • Able to participate in and support training
  • Able to execute engineering study with provided instructions/protocol
