About The Position

This position is accountable for the inspection and documentation of bridge and culvert conditions throughout the district.

Requirements

• Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum; OR two years of engineering experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Availability to work overtime.
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of conditions including active construction sites and around active traffic lanes.
• Ability to traverse rough terrain, wade in shallow water, work in adverse weather conditions, work in confined spaces, or work at various heights due to many bridge components being difficult to reach.
• Districtwide travel with occasional overnight stays.
• Night work as operational needs dictate.
• Successful completion of a background screening.

Responsibilities

• Ensures an accurate and thorough inspection and documentation of assigned highway structures.
• Performs inspection data entry.
• Informs superiors of any potential immediate safety concerns discovered during inspections.
• Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
