About The Position

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. This position is intended for the E25 Test Engineering Material, Equipment, and Shop group located in the VASCIC building of NNS. The incumbent will be filling the role of Calibration Coordinator and will be responsible for:- Utilizing and becoming proficient in the IndySoft program, E25 departmental databases used for the management and tracking of equipment and material, and the SAP roles needed to perform his/her job (government property, purchase requisitions, EBOM, etc.).- Coordinating and facilitating the check-in of E25 equipment due for calibration and the check-out of recently calibrated equipment. This requires proactive communication with users of E25 equipment and their management.- Performing calibration runs using an E25 vehicle to deliver and pick up equipment to/from various NNS buildings and calibration labs.- Providing timely status updates to team, immediate management, and customers. Ultimately, the incumbent will have the biggest impact on maintaining E25's calibration program's reputation with the goal being zero calibration delinquencies and getting calibrated test equipment and instrumentation in the hands of the engineers and technicians using it before it is needed. This position regularly communicates with engineers and technicians across departments as well as their immediate supervision, internal and external calibration labs, and tool room personnel; all via email, phone, and/or in-person.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 1 years of relevant experience
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
